When data loss can’t wait.

When every hour of downtime has a price tag, or a deadline is closing in, we bump the job up the queue. Below are the cases that land on our fast-track more or less constantly.

01

A whole business at a standstill

Your server, NAS or RAID array is dead and everything has stopped with it — client and patient files, accounts and orders, none of it reachable.

02

One copy, and the clock ticking

The single existing copy of something due today sits on a drive that has failed — a submission, a project, work that cannot be allowed to slip.

03

A drive deteriorating by the hour

Repeated dropouts, clicking, failures that keep recurring — a click is typically a head that can no longer track, and each hour under power risks it grazing the platter and scoring the surface permanently, tipping a recoverable disk into an unrecoverable one.

04

A DIY fix that backfired

A rebuild left half-done, an array re-seated, or recovery software run — something has made things worse, and you want specialists on it before any more slips away.

// priority handling

How our priority service works.

Exactly the same measured, no-fix-no-fee handling every job gets — only bumped to the head of the line.

01

Reach out before anything else

Phone us in office hours or, outside them, drop a note through the contact form. We will talk you through getting the device here safely and warn you off anything that could do harm.

02

A fast-tracked diagnostic, often inside a day

The device goes on the bench right away. Typically the day it arrives, we establish the cause of failure, what can be salvaged, and the price.

03

The recovery itself, prioritised

With your fixed quote approved, we push the job forward: the disk goes onto read-only imaging hardware and we lift the most vital regions first, steering around weak sectors and ailing heads before they worsen. Where a server or business-critical RAID is involved, every member disk is imaged at once and the array reconstructed offline, on the tightest schedule the case permits.

04

A plan you can see from the outset

You are given an honest timeline from the start and kept posted along the way, so you can make your own plans around it.

// first response

What to do the moment data is lost.

Those opening minutes matter. A few straightforward moves keep your data safe — and a few familiar blunders can push it out of reach for good.

Do

Cut the power

Hear clicking, grinding, or the drive dropping out? Cut the power. Noises like that mean the motor or heads are in trouble, and each restart risks a head meeting the platter — leaving a dying drive spinning is the usual route from recoverable to lost. Switched off and imaged read-only, most come back.

Do

Keep RAID disks in sequence

When an array goes down, note the bay order before pulling a single disk, and keep the set together — it is that order we rebuild the array from.

Do

Message us first

Contact us ahead of trying anything yourself. Two minutes writing to us can spare both your data and a good deal of expense.

×Steer clear of recovery or ‘repair’ utilities on a physically failing drive — they hold it under power and nearly always make the damage worse.
×Do not let a controller rebuild onto a failing member, and stop re-seating disks — a rebuild gone wrong is the single most frequent cause of permanent loss.
×Never return a dropped, wet or burnt drive to service, and do not crack a drive open yourself — bag it, keep it cool, and get it to us.
// out of hours

Reach us out of hours.

We are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. Beyond those hours you still have options — message us on live chat, drop us an email, or fill in the contact form, and we will come straight back with a way forward.

01

Send an email

Write to us whenever, setting out what has gone wrong. A quick reply follows with the next move and how to send the device in safely.

02

Fill in the contact form

Alternatively, give us a few particulars through the site’s contact form and we will get back to you promptly with a clear plan.

03

A real reply, quickly

Whichever route you pick, the response comes from an actual recovery engineer rather than an automated queue, with your job already flagged as priority.

// turnaround & pricing

Emergency turnaround & pricing.

There is no premium on the price for going first. An emergency job sits on the very same fixed, written pricing as any other recovery, settled before a penny of chargeable work happens, and still no fix, no fee on the majority of jobs. Speed and undivided attention are what the priority buys — your device ahead of the rest on the bench, on a tight but realistic timeline. The free diagnostic comes first as ever, so what is recoverable and what it costs are both clear before you commit. For the full breakdown, see our data recovery cost guide and pricing.

// getting it to us

Two easy steps.

Post the device over for its free diagnostic with a short note on what happened; an engineer looks it over and puts your exact quote in writing before any work begins.

1

Send us your device

The road to your data back starts with the device reaching us. Wrap it well, tuck your contact details inside, and send it along — after the free diagnostic runs, your exact price is confirmed in writing before anything begins.

How to pack it
  • Pack it into a compact, solid box or a well-padded envelope.
  • Leave cables, power bricks and caddies at home — the recovery needs none of them.
  • Slip your name, address, phone and email inside, on a note or our shipping form, then seal the package.

Sending by post? We would point you to a tracked and insured service. Prefer to hand it over? Come by Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm — just pack the device as above beforehand.

Need more information?

After a little more detail up front? Tell us more about the problem on the form and an engineer will review it and send back a tailored quote.

Every enquiry is read by an engineer in person — during the day a reply usually lands inside 30 minutes. Rather call? 01483 901310.

// emergency questions

Emergency recovery, answered.

The queries that come up most when the clock is against you.

The office runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. Outside that, put your details through the contact form on the site and a recovery plan follows quickly — and once your device is with us, the emergency job jumps the queue straight away.

A business-critical failure goes to the head of the bench, and we aim to wrap the diagnostic the day it arrives or the next; before any chargeable work, you get the likely outcome, a plan and a timeline.

Usually a downed server, NAS or RAID array bringing a business to a halt, a failed disk carrying the sole copy of critical files, or a deadline that cannot move. If the downtime is draining money, it earns priority handling.

None — an emergency runs on the identical fixed, written pricing as any recovery, agreed before work starts. The charge covers turnaround and priority, not a markup, and no fix, no fee still holds for most jobs.

Halt the rebuild and shut the system down. Rebuilding forces a full read of a failing disk and lays fresh parity across the set — should a second disk fall out partway, it overwrites the very data needed to put things back, and that is the leading cause of permanent RAID loss. Pull the disks, label each with its bay position, and bring them in; we image every member read-only and rebuild offline. Get in touch and we will walk you through it.
